Meet Troy: The Top Dog of Mobile Grooming in Phoenix, Arizona!
Woof! I'm Troy Alwood, the proud owner and lead groomer of Troy's What Up Dog. My journey into the world of dog grooming is a tail as old as time (well, at least as old as my 20+ years in the business)!
As a kid, I dreamed of working with animals. My home was practically a zoo, filled with all sorts of furry, feathered, and scaly friends. But it wasn't until I was 25 that I found my true calling in dog grooming.
My big break came when I started working at Applewood Kennels with Clay Cotey, one of the USA's top dog handlers. There, I groomed pups owned by stars like Elizabeth Taylor and Bill Cosby. Talk about a glamorous start to my professional grooming career.
After years of learning from the best in the business across Houston, Seattle, Paradise Valley, and Phoenix, I decided to bring my skills directly to the wonderful pet parents of Phoenix. That's how Troy's What Up Dog mobile grooming service was born!

How long have you been grooming dogs in Phoenix?I've been grooming animals for more than 10 years, receiving training from some of the most prominent pet groomers in the industry. My experience spans Houston, Seattle, Paradise Valley, and Phoenix. I started about 10 years ago working with Bill Cosby's dog handler, Clay Cotey, grooming his Lakeland Terriers and attending dog shows.

How often should my pet be groomed in Phoenix's climate?The frequency depends on your pet's coat type and condition. Generally, it's anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks. Some clients in Phoenix have their pets groomed every other week or even weekly, especially during the hot summer months.

How long does a mobile grooming session take?A typical mobile grooming session takes no more than 4 hours. If you prefer, we offer an express grooming service that takes about an hour and a half, where we work on your pet straight through in our mobile grooming van.
